Cute lead, weird science, weirder sex scene

George Romero is full of surprises in this 1988 drama/horror that everyone should watch at least once, because literally what the heck. Main character Allan is savagely humbled by the universe when he’s paralyzed from the neck down in a freak jogging accident, and his gf is stolen by his doctor. Respectfully, he never stood a chance against Stanley Tucci. Allan’s friend smuggles out a research monkey and trains it to do tasks for Allan. But Allan and the monkey MIND MELD and she goes crazy for his wheelchair drip and decides anybody who gets in her way can catch her tiny little monkey hands… and fire.
