Found footage, convoluted lore, haunted house
The OG Hell House LLC was a solidly alright watch. Did it have its problems? Sure enough. Was it watchable? Passably. So I was hoping for the sequel to be solidly alright & then I fell asleep twice in a row trying to get through it. The first time I was unreasonably tired, the second time I was just bored. The characters are ill-defined cliches played by actors that seem to struggle to deliver the goofiest lines. The setting is the star here, as it was in the first movie but the ill-defined attempts to deepen the lore only serve to convolute it further. I wanted to like it but just couldn’t.
