Tentacles, spiders, pterodactyls (oh my!)
A mostly faithful adaptation of the Stephen King novel, this 2007 film takes all of the ambiguity of an unreliable narrator and open-ended story and gives you a definite cause and ending with an iconic final scene to boot. A group of small-townies hold up in a supermarket as an impenetrable mist descends. With soldiers, city slickers, rednecks, grocers and born-again-christians stuck together with no help coming, cracks will show and old grudges come to bare. Lovers of monster movies are spoilt for choice when the CGI decides to look half-decent. I still prefer the book though.
