Not so silly old bear, waterboarded with honey, unapologetically stupid

Stef (Insta @stefspecter) & Molly (Twitter @night_timetea) discuss a weird (derogatory) spawn of Disney losing its fight with time & copyright law, the 2023 slasher “Winnie the Pooh: Blood & Honey.” It’s not good, but it’s not the worst we’ve seen (which isn’t saying much tbh).

So the character Winnie the Pooh just became public domain, and you want to poke a bit of fun at Disney. I get it, making a cute and innocent character gorey and murdery is a good piece of satire material.
So why is it, that this movie is terrible?
The animation at the beginning was impressively unnerving, and I had high hopes going in. I think if the director had chosen to go all in on that style, this could have been a cult classic gem.
However; the masks were horrendous, the actresses were both interchangeable and bland, and the whole thing felt half assed.
In short, don’t assume you have enough inherent shock value to carry a movie. Add some substance or leave it alone!
