Haunted hotel, miserable writer, what are the rules?
We continue last week’s theme of an absolutely insufferable main character with 1408, a psychological horror adapted from a Stephen King short story. & at least part of our disappointment with the film has to land on our expectations for King’s work & in some ways it’s typical of it — the gruff boomer main, the vague sense that this horror is cosmic actually isn’t it? But the lore itself is undefined, the emotional drama comes off contrived, & overall the edges of the story just don’t come together to paint a cohesive picture. To say we were disappointed…
